This area's Women in Business organization awarded our own L. Susan Althoff the coveted "Woman of the Year" trophy and recognition on Thursday, May 18th at Signatures Golf Course in Winona. This award is based on specific elements of an individuals life, including career ojectives achieved, goals, spirituality, and giving back to the community.

Susan had no idea she had even been nominated for the award, and it was her two daughters Pam and Jane who stated on their submission form that Susan will always be their woman of the year, because she raised them to be strong, confident, and caring women. Many current and former co-workers, friends, and family secretly gathered at the back of the ballroom while the description of the winner was revealed, in gradually greater detail, to the audience.

The bronze trophy itself is a lovely, inspiring, one-of-a-kind work of art depicting a woman holding up a five-segmented circle. Stop in at the UVW Village House to see the trophy and ask Susan about this big surprise.

Many of you, our University Village of Winona residents, are new to the area and not familiar with some of the community issues that we have an opportunity have to vote on this coming Tuesday, Nov 8th.
UVW Concierge Susan Althoff has invited two Winona public school board representatives to the Village House on College Rd this Monday, November 7 from 4:30 to 5:00 pm for a mini forum and discussion about the referendum. UVW Residents and the public are welcome. Please let Susan know you will be coming so she can make enough coffee. 454-4322 by noon Monday.
