The
Winona Daily News has an article this week titled
Heritage society picks name for new museum.
There is a new name for Winona's next museum: The Minnesota Marine Art Museum. The Maritime Heritage Society announced the name Tuesday, along with a Sept. 6 groundbreaking ceremony for its planned museum to be built near Winona's Commercial Harbor.... The Maritime Heritage Society was formed in Winona two years ago as an effort to bring the Mississippi River dredge William A. Thompson here upon its retirement after more than 75 years of service with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
See the
The Dredge "Willam A. Thompson" page on the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers web site.
